Looking for a locally-based team for a film or video production in derry?
Here’s a secret for you: At only 173 metres tall, Sheriff’s Mountain – sitting just behind the Creggan estate on the outskirts of Derry city… isn’t really a mountain. Technically it’s just a big hill, falling pretty far short of the official height that a mountain is meant to be. Scandalous. If you think that sounds underwhelming though, just head up there and have a look at the view you get over the whole city, down the river to Lough Foyle and out towards Binevenagh and the north coast. Magic.
The northwest is sometimes thought of as a minnow on the island of Ireland – a forgotten part of the country – but we firmly believe it punches well above its weight. Obviously we’re completely biased, but if you’ve not considered it, let us tell you why we think it’s a class wee place here for a film or video production in Derry.

NATURE’S OWN ART DEPARTMENT
Whatever kind of shoot location you’re looking for, you’re bound to find it here. Sweeping landscapes, we got you. Rugged hills, check. Pristine beaches, easy. Gritty estates, historic mansions, sleek business environs, modern nightlife settings… got ’em all within a drive that’ll take less time than an average commute in London, Dublin or New York. Perfect backdrops to whatever ideas you want to get on screen.
A MOTIVATED TALENT BASE
For such a small city, the level of creative achievement to have come from Derry really says a lot. Nobel prizes to Eurovision winners. Not many places that are this size can say that. The tight-knit crew that we work with are all highly motivated and creative people in their own rights, bringing a wealth of experience and ideas to any production they work on.

A PROPER DIY SPIRIT
That sense that Derry and the northwest have been overlooked in recent history has engendered anything but a sense of fatalism. Heroes of ours are people like The Undertones and the folks who started The Nerve Centre, who didn’t wait around for someone to give them permission, instead they just gave things a go and enjoyed it as they did. We like to bring that to all of our work. Not every budget is going to be the next Star Wars; but we love figuring out ways to push the creativity to a level above what is expected.
This inspires us. Culture falling out your ears.
MORE HISTORY THAN YOU CAN SHAKE A STICK AT
Every stone seems to have a story in this place. ‘In 600AD Seamus Someone-Or-Other placed this circle of rocks in his field…’ (Only slightly exaggerating). From the prehistoric site up the road at Mount Sandel, to the 400+ year old fortifications around the city centre, through to the 20th century history which I’m sure we’re all sadly aware of. Derry has stories carved deep into its very being.

CROSS BORDER ADVANTAGES
Whilst Brexit has posed problems for businesses on the UK mainland, Derry’s unique position right on the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland means we get to enjoy the best of both worlds. Should you ever run out of stunning landscapes to film here, literally a 20 minute walk out past the Rosemount estate will take you over the border and into Donegal – where a vibrant and under-appreciated landscape all of its own lies. For film and video productions, this gives a wealth of advantages that put the lie to any sense that the northwest might be remote.
Wild Atlantic Way, Donegal, easy travel.
WHAT WE CAN BRING
All of this shapes who we are and the mindset of the people we work with. The DIY spirit of the city and the ruggedness of the surroundings are what inspire us to create.
We can bring a full-service film and video production, drawing on a well of locally-based talent, with a real depth of skills and credits. From pre-production to the day of the shoot, right through to the post production, we’re ready and equipped to provide a professional video production in Derry that exceeds people’s expectations.
